The CTMP started its activities in 1984. At that time, the works were mainly in geology, mineral processing and mining environment. In 1988, the CTMP extended its expertise in the plastic sector for R&D work as well for technical services. In 1993, the 'ministère de l'Enseigenement supérieur et de la Science', recognized credit for the work done in plastics sector by issuing an additional recognizance for this sector of activities. In 1996, the CTMP took its present name and became a non-profit organization.
The CTMP is part of the Réseau Trans-Tech which is the association of the technology transfert center put ahead by the ministère de l'Éducation du Québec.
CTMP has the recognizance as of public research center. This allows to the CTMP's customers to take advantages of all the financial advantages applicable.
