Rock mechanics
Rockwall stability is the basis to any mining, quarrying, tunneling, underground parking or civil engineering works.
Current state of the art considers four main parameters which control bedrock strength and stability: nonconformity, underground water, geological stress and mechanical resistance.
The Center has specialized laboratory equipment to measure mechanical rock strength properties:
- Core sampling
- Diamond saw cutting
- Surfacing and polishing
- Compression tests and double punching
