Reverse engineering and failure analysis
Reverse engineering enable us to analyze an existing product for characteristics such as geometry, composition and manufacturing process. It is an in depth analysis of a product or a manufacturing process. It applies to plastic products and is an important tool in determining failure analysis.
With reverse engineering we can find out :
- Material composition
- Fabrication and assembling process
- Geometry and sizing of parts
Failure analysis will help to find out:
- Faulty design or selection of material
- Problems during the manufacturing process (molding errors, production problems, etc.)
- Material related problems such as contamination, aging, etc.
- Erratic control over process parameters (temperature, pressure, cooling, etc.)
